How do I create a "Smart" QR code that goes to different URLs?
The Smart URL (or Multi-URL) solution allows a single QR code to redirect users to different destinations or contents based on certain conditions.
- From the homepage, select the Smart URL solution on the menu.
- Choose the redirection type:
- Location: Send users to different URLs based on their country, region, or city.
- Number of scans: Change the URL after a certain number of scans.
- Time: Redirect to different URLs based on the time of day the code is scanned.
- Language: Redirect users based on their device's language setting.
- Geo-fencing: Set a specific geographic radius (using GPS) and only allow scans within that area to go to a certain URL.
- For each condition, enter the corresponding URL. You must also set a "Default URL" for users who do not meet any of your set conditions.
- Click "Generate dynamic QR code" and customize its design.
Important note about Geo-fencing:
After the person scans the QR code, an alert will appear that will request permission to track the device's location.
For the geo-fencing feature to work, the scanner must grant permission to track their device's location when prompted.
This feature is available to Premium, Professional and Enterprise plans.
Can I change the rules after creating the QR code?
Yes. The main benefit of a dynamic Smart URL QR code is that you can change, add, or remove its redirection rules at any time without needing to create or reprint the QR code.
How do I edit the location (geo-fence) or time rules after the QR code has been created?
- Log in to your QR Tiger account.
- On the top-right, click "My Account".
- From the dropdown, click "Smart URL" and find your Smart URL QR code.
- Click the "Edit" button.
- You will see the setup page with tabs for Location, Time, Number of Scans, and Language. Click on the tab for the rule you wish to change.
- You can modify the URLs, change the locations (including the geo-fence radius), adjust the time ranges, or update the number of scans.
- Click "Save" to apply your changes instantly.
Can I combine different rules, like location and time?
No, you cannot combine different rules in Smart URLs for now.
