How do I fix a QR code that has reached its scan limit?

If a dynamic QR code has stopped working, it may be because it has reached a preset scan limit. The solution depends on the user's subscription plan and the specific settings applied to that QR code.

To resolve this, first identify the user's plan type.

Scenario 1: The user is on a Freemium Plan.

Dynamic QR codes created with a Freemium account have a predetermined limit on the number of scans they can receive. Once this limit is reached, the QR code becomes inactive.

  • Resolution: The user must upgrade to a paid plan (e.g., Regular, Advanced, Premium) to get more features, including unlimited scan limit for their QR codes

Scenario 2: The user is on a Paid Plan (Advanced or higher).

Paid plans offer unlimited number of scans. If a QR code on a paid plan stops working, it is likely because the Set Expiry feature was configured to deactivate the code after a specific number of scans.

  • Resolution: The user can reactivate the QR code by increasing the total scan limit. This feature is available forAdvanced, Premium, Professional, and Enterprise plans.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Increase Scan Limit:

  1. Log in to your account. Click on My Account on the top right of the home page and select the type of QR Code (e.g. URL, vCard, Landing Page, etc.)
  2. Locate the specific QR code in the list.
  3. Click the Expiry button for that QR code.
  4. In the "Set expiry" pop-up window, confirm that the "Type" is set to Scans.
  5. Increase the number in the box to the new desired total scan limit.
    1. Pro-Tip: The scan limit is cumulative. For example, if a QR code expired after 1,000 scans and the user wants to allow another 1,000 scans, they must set the new total limit to 2,000.
  6. Click Save to apply the changes. The QR code will be active again.

Summary

To fix a QR code that has reached its scan limit:

  • Freemium Plan: The user must upgrade to a paid plan and generate a new dynamic QR code.
  • Paid Plan (Advanced and up): The user must go to the Expiry setting for that QR code and increase the cumulative scan limit.
