How do I know if my QR Code is Static or Dynamic?
There are two primary ways to determine if your QR code is static or dynamic.
1. Check Your Dashboard
The easiest and most certain way to identify your QR code type is to log in to your account dashboard.
- Dynamic QR Codes are Editable: In your list of QR codes, a dynamic code will have options to "Edit" or view "Stats." This is because the destination of a dynamic QR code can be changed at any time.
- Static QR Codes are Fixed: A static code will not have an option to edit the destination content. It is fixed upon creation. Static QR Codes are not saved in your dashboard.
If you can change where the QR code sends users after it has been created, it is dynamic. If you cannot, it is static.
2. Scan the QR Code and Check the URL
You can identify the code type by scanning it with your smartphone and observing the URL that appears.
- Dynamic QR Codes Use a Short URL: When you scan a dynamic QR code, your phone will first open a short URL that belongs to our service (for example,
https://qr1.be/XXXXX
). This link then redirects you to the final destination website or content.
If your plan supports using your own domain (white label), you can use your own domain as the short URL that redirects the QR code to the final destination.
- Static QR Codes Link Directly: A static QR code contains the final destination data directly in its pattern. When you scan it, your phone will prompt you to open the final URL directly (e.g., "Open
yourwebsite.com
in Safari"). There is no intermediate redirect link from our service.
