After creating my QR code, how can I set up GPS tracking and restrict where my QR code can be used?

The GPS tracking feature allows you to capture precise location data for each scan and to limit scanning to a specific geographic area (a "geo-fence"). This is useful for location-based promotions, events, or for verifying attendance.

Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Log in to your QR Tiger account.
  2. Click on the "My Account" dropdown on the top-right of the page.
  3. Choose the type of QR code (e.g. URL, vCard, Landing Page, Bulk, etc.)
  4. Find the relevant QR code and click the "GPS" icon and bu.
  5. A GPS Tracking pop-up window will appear. Configure the following settings:
    • Enable GPS Tracking: Check this box to get the most accurate location data possible for every scan. The system will use the scanner's device GPS for this.
    • Limit Scan Location - Geo-Fence: Check this box to restrict where the QR code can be successfully scanned.
      • Use the "Search Google Maps" bar to find the central point for your desired location.
      • Set the Radius in Meters around that point to create your virtual boundary. Users will only be able to scan the code successfully within this circle.
      • Message: In this field, enter a clear and concise message for the person scanning the QR code. This message will appear when their device asks for permission to share its location.
        • Purpose: Use this message to explain why you need their location. This helps build trust and increases the likelihood they will grant permission.
        • Example Message: "Please share your location to confirm you are at the event venue and to access exclusive content."
  6. Click "Save" to apply your settings.

Important Note: For either of these features to work, the person scanning the QR code must grant permission for their device to share its location when prompted by their browser.

This feature is for Professional and Enterprise plans

Who can do this? This action is available for Editor (on their own QR codes) and Admin/Owner roles on plans that support multiple users.
