How do I track my campaigns more accurately with UTM parameters?

What is utm_source ?

utm_source  tells GA4 the source of the visit (for QR codes, this is usually the placement or location of the QR code).

Tip: UTM values are case-sensitive. Use one format (example: all lowercase) so reports don’t split into duplicates.

UTM parameters to include for QR codes

For most QR code campaigns, we recommend adding these 3 parameters:

  • utm_source = where the QR code is placed

Example: poster , flyer , store , event , packaging

  • utm_medium = channel type

    Recommended value: qr

  • utm_campaign = your campaign name

    Example: summer_sale , grand_opening , new_menu

How to add UTM parameters to a URL QR code

Adding UTM parameters to your URL helps you track the source of your website traffic in tools like Google Analytics. This feature is only available for the URL QR code type.

  1. Log in to your QR Tiger account.
  2. Click on the “My Account” dropdown on the top-right of the page.
  3. Choose "URL".
  4. Find the QR code you want to track and click the "UTM" icon for that row.
  5. In the pop-up, click "Add parameter".
  6. Enter the Parameter (e.g., utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) and its Value (e.g., newsletter, email, summer_sale).
  7. Add as many parameters as you need. Click "Save" when finished.

This feature is available to Advanced plans and up.

Who can do this?

This action is available for Editor (on their own QR codes) and Admin/Owner roles on plans that support multiple users.
